Environmental Measures on Machines
To reduce the load on the environment and cut running costs, the consumption of power and lubricant has been significantly reduced by incorporating ingenuity and devices for saving energy throughout machines, including the adoption of LED lighting and installing an accumulator in the hydraulic unit.

Redox Flow Battery for Electric Power Storage
The Iga Campus, a key plant at Mori Seiki, has an afforestation ratio of 28.3%, maintaining a high level exceeding the 25% stated in the Factory Location Act in Japan. Following the lead of the Iga Campus, a clean and environmentally friendly photovoltaic system was also installed at the Nara Campus in March 2011. In addition to the solar tracking system that achieves an electrogenic capability 1.3 times better than a fixed type, "Redox flow batteries" for electric power storage will also be installed and used to provide electricity for facilities for the employees' benefit and lighting for the parking lot during the evening. These will provide a total of 96,000 kWh of electricity generating capacity and Mori Seiki as a whole will reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 41 tons per year.

Replacement of Identification Sign on the Administration Building Rooftop
at Nara Campus No. 1 Plant
Replacing the red logo on the white background, we have revamped the identification sign on the Administration Building rooftop at the Nara Campus No. 1 Plant: it is now a stainless logo which stands out against a brown background. Changing the lighting from neon to LEDs reduces the power consumption by one fifth; this is a reduction of 26,000 kWh per year, or 11 tons of carbon dioxide.

All this equipment serves to assist the promotion of energy-saving measures at Mori Seiki and our efforts toward energy savings are supported by NEDO (the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization). And all these approaches are intended to contribute toward combating global warming by extending and explaining these efforts widely.
