The NMV5000 DCG, our high-precision, 5-axis control vertical machining center, was highly praised at JIMTOF2006. In this issue we will introduce its basic structure, as the first hint of the high productivity of this model, which boasts the world's best machining ability.

The NMV5000 DCG combines all of Mori Seiki's original component technology. By using DCG®, which minimizes vibration during acceleration, and the "Top Box-in-Box Construction" in the upper part of the machine, which offers stable guides at high speed, even more precise machining has been made possible. Also, unlike other 5-axis machines, it has no overhang, allowing stable feed even at high speeds. And its heat-symmetrical design gives excellent thermal stability. We have used the latest technology throughout the machine, such as the spindle with the octagonal ram structure and the high-rigidity slideways, to ensure high-efficiency, high-precision machining.

Driven at the Center of Gravity

Vibration, which is caused by the movement of the machine's components, is a major cause of deterioration in surface quality and machining accuracy. "Driven at the Center of Gravity" minimizes the residual tool tip vibration, optimizing not only accuracy but also machining time and tool life.

The saddle is supported at both sides, allowing the moving parts to be driven at their center of gravity with excellent balance.
Pushing at the center of gravity of a moving object using two ball screws controls vibration, which is the greatest factor preventing high speed and precision.
By making the ram a perfect octagon, we achieved superior straightness and greater machining accuracy.

By installing ball screws and DD (Direct Drive) motors, we have achieved high efficiency and low costs so that you can be satisfied not only with its structure but with its entire performance. We have paid attention to every detail, including better access to the table than in any previous 5-axis machine, for greater operability. As the only machine which combines high precision with ease of use, the NMV5000 DCG offers ideal machining for many production sites.
