Thomas Demuth

My name is Thomas Demuth. I'm the Regional Manager for the new Technical Center in Stollberg (Chemnitz).

I am looking forward to the Grand Opening of our new Technical Center in Stollberg (Chemnitz) on February 11 & 12, 2009.

This will be the first branch in the former GDR and the sixth branch in Germany. The new Technical Center has a sizable showroom with approximately 560 square meters of office, training and meeting rooms space.

We will exhibit 7 Mori Seiki machines: NMV5000 DCG, NT4250 DCG/1500SZ, NZ2000 T3Y3, NL2000SY/500, NH4000 DCG, DuraTurn 2550MC and DuraVertical 5100.

Due to our move, we are now closer to our customers in East Germany.

MORI SEIKI Close-Up

The NT6600 DCG receives the prestigious “2008 (51st) Best 10 New Products Awards (Monodzukuri Prize)”!

Mori Seiki received the “2008 (51st) Best 10 New Products Awards (Monodzukuri Prize)” for the NT6600 DCG high-precision, high-efficiency integrated mill turn center from the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, and was represented at the award ceremony held at a hotel in Tokyo on Wednesday, January 28. This award is given to outstanding products developed and commercialized by companies, and Mori Seiki won this prize for the third time in a row, following the success of the DURA Series in 2006, and the NZ Series in 2007. The Monodzukuri Prize awarded to the NT6600 DCG was newly created in accordance with the project the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun named “Promotion of Monodzukuri (Manufacturing)”.

The NT Series has received high praise as the ultimate integrated mill turn center which combines the abilities of lathes and machining centers. The NT6600 DCG, which started to take orders last April, was developed as a new model in the Series in order to respond to growing demands from customers who are required to make larger or more complex-shaped parts for aircrafts, printing machines, oil drilling machines, construction machinery, and ships.

The NT6600 DCG, which boasts a maximum machining length of 6,076 mm (239.2 in.)*, a cutting diameter of 1,070 mm (42.1 in.) and the world's largest Y-axis travel <660 mm (26.0 in.)> offers high-speed, high-precision machining for long/large-diameter workpieces by incorporating Mori Seiki's original technologies including DCG® (Driven at the Center of Gravity), DDM (Direct Drive Motor) and ORC® (Octagonal Ram Construction) which are optimized to fit large machine structures. With the longest boring bar in the class <1,270 mm (50.0 in.)>, the NT6600 DCG reduces setup times to less than 5 minutes while the other companies' machines take more than 30 minutes. We believe that our NT6600 DCG won the prize because it was highly recognized as a high-precision, high-efficiency machine particularly suitable for large workpieces.

Mori Seiki is continuously committed to the development of industrial technologies through offering innovative products that meet customer requests. Please look forward to our new lineup in 2009.

And the winners are ...
