NV5000 New Product Presentation Ceremonies held throughout Japan. Hopes high for quality.
The NV5000, Mori Seiki's newest vertical machining center, was developed to deliver the highest quality, performance, and productivity ever reached, with the goal of raising customer profits.
New product introductions were held at the Iga Plant and other technical centers throughout Japan on March 15th and 16th.

The No. 40 taper compact vertical machining center class has faced tough competition in recent years. To meet this challenge, Mori Seiki has introduced the NV5000 as the definitive answer in vertical machining centers. The presentation ceremonies were held amid high expectations in the industry.

The presentations were held throughout the country simultaneously, using individual models - an unheard-of method until now, demonstrating our dedication and effort in this machine. Also, as a fitting tribute for a new age, the presentations themselves were completely unlike conventional trade fairs and product presentations.

Upon entering the Iga Plant, the first sight bestowed upon the visitor was seven NV5000 machines. Each machine was running, hard at work, on a different demonstration.

Each demonstration reflected our customers' needs: aircraft parts, automobile parts, electrical appliance parts, dies & molds, aluminum high-speed cutting and steel heavy cutting (taking advantage of the material's characteristics). We also demonstrated "four-axis machining" to demonstrate process integration using our unique Φ 300 mm (Φ 11.8 in.) double-index rotary table. To give visitors a better understanding of the machines, panels were displayed that compared the machining productivity statistics. This provided the visitor with more information than they could get just by looking at the specifications.

The reason we displayed seven models working on seven different types of parts was to demonstrate this machines high performance and versatility. We are confident that we successfully presented these aspects, showing the NV5000 to be a powerful and flexible all-purpose workhorse with excellent speed and precision specifications.

To further demonstrate the machine's capabilities, the seven machines were connected together using the CAPS-NET machine networking software and were subjected to real-time operation control.

Besides the machine performance, visitors were also interested in the quality of the finished workpieces. For this purpose, we had 3-D measuring instruments as well as instruments for measuring roundness, surface roughness, and other aspects of the precision of the workpieces. The instruments showed the visitors results of the precision that the NV5000 is capable of delivering.

The DVD presentation was particularly successful.
We showed short clips in the new seminar room and in on the exhibition floor to familiarize visitors with features of the NV5000. Visitors watched the fast-paced digital presentation with interest.

We have developed new plans in our sales department to support our customers. Working together with leasing companies and tool-makers, we put together six limited-time benefit packages* to commemorate the birth of the NV5000, and they have all been very well received by customers who took advantage of them and their special prices.

The NV5000 presentations thus allowed visitors to get a direct look at the machine's superiority from a variety of angles. Above all, we wanted to communicate the advantages that the NV5000 can deliver to customers who use it's potential in their production environments - which is, of course, the question all our customers want to know the answer to most of all. And more than anything else, the answer is "high productivity," the most prominent feature of the NV5000. In this sense, the format used for the NV5000 product presentations targeted and reached the customers' needs.

Machine + Software + Application. These three elements put together equal productivity and the Mori Seiki solution - profits for the customer. We here at Mori Seiki will continue to develop products that will increase the customer's profit.
France and the US held their NV5000 new product introductions before Japan.

France went first, on March 1st, with three NV5000 machines on display performing demonstration. Visitors were most interested in seeing the machine's cutting and chip disposal performance, which, once demonstrated, made way for finer questions of rigidity and precision.
The presentations in the US were also conducted with three types of dynamic demonstrations: high-speed cutting, heavy cutting, and die & mold machining. The users were definitely convinced of this machine's capabilities after the demonstrations.
The NV5000 delivers an extremely high investment-performance ratio due to its high productivity as well as higher earnings in the long-term, when compared to other machines, and not just in terms of price. The overseas presentations were effective since they succeeded in communicating this important point.

Despite the stiff competition in the vertical machining center market, technical centers all over the country have been reporting many signed NV5000 contracts. We have asked a few of those customers for their impressions of the NV5000.
Besides the machine's performance, the User Support Package* (with the Trouble-Free Maintenance Lease) was a big factor in our decision to buy this machine, specifically due to the low rates and rapid delivery.
"Machining parts for food-processing machines
I was astounded by the amount of floor space the machine saves despite its specifications. The table is easy to work with and chips are kept out of the way, so the machine is very user-oriented.
"Machining parts for construction equipment
First, what I liked best was the machining speed. The demonstration at the product introduction was what decided it for me. The price is right for the outstanding performance, with the User Support Package to top it off. I liked the machine design, too.
"Manufacturing metal parts for construction
We bought this machine to do steel and aluminum jobs in-house, without having to outsource them like before. We expect great reductions in machining as well as non-cutting time from the speedy NV5000. The factors that decided us were abundant cutting performance, the compact design, and minimal installation space.
"Electric and communications equipment
I have finally found a machine that can handle both die & mold and part machining. The high-speed spindle, excellent acceleration and deceleration, and high level of precision satisfy the required specifications. This machine is exactly what I was looking for.
