Large machines and 5-axis control machines received high praise

At this year's show, we displayed machines by theme (e.g. large machines, 5-axis control machines, and automation systems) so that customers could easily compare models which were suitable for their purposes. Among them, newly-developed machines for large workpieces and high-efficiency production attracted many customers' attention: the NH6300 DCG II high-precision horizontal machining center with the highest speed in its class which was unveiled for the first time, NMV8000 DCG high-precision, 5-axis control vertical machining center, NT6600 DCG/4000CS high-precision, high-efficiency integrated mill turn center for long/large diameter workpieces. We displayed the mock-ups of the maximum workpieces so that customer could see how big the target workpieces were. Customers who saw the NT6600 DCG/4000CS and its mock-up workpiece highly praised it saying "The long stroke is very impressive. The long boring bar specifications is something that other companies have not yet offered, and very interesting." Customers were fully satisfied with our integrated mill turn center equipped with the longest long boring bar in its class and realized the potential of higher productivity of long workpieces.

At this exhibition, we conducted plant tours at the Machining, Assembly, Sheet Metal/Heat Treatment, and Casting Plants of Iga Campus so that customers can purchase our machines with confidence. During the plant tours, some customers listened to the guide's explanation carefully, and took notes earnestly. Among them, the DHP80+CPP and gun drilling machines, which were installed in the Machining Plant this spring, received the attention from many customers. What's more, at this year's Early Summer Productivity Show, we displayed our group companies' products such as DIXI Machines, Taiyo Koki vertical grinding machines, and Tobler special chucks and workholdings. We are confident that customers were fully satisfied with the Mori Seiki Group's high-quality production and service system.

The features of new products which attracted customer's attention

In recent years, the demand for large and high-productivity machining tools has been increasing in the aircraft, oil/energy, construction machinery, and industrial machinery industries due to the infrastructure constructions in the fast-growing BRICs countries. In response to the demand, Mori Seiki has intensively developed large machines. The NMV8000 DCG, NT6600 DCG, and NH6300 DCG II we displayed at this show are all newly-developed machines.

NMV8000 DCG "The world's strongest, fastest 5-axis machine"
The NMV8000 DCG is a high-precision, 5-axis control vertical machining center with the φ 800 mm (φ 31.5 in.) high-rigidity table, suitable for workpieces up to 1,000 kg (2,200 lb.). The machine, which has an ideal construction equipped with Mori Seiki original technologies, has achieved the high speed in the maximum table rotational speed (25/50 min^-1 on the B/C axes) and rapid traverse rate <40 m/min (1,574.8 ipm) on the X, Y, and Z axes>. At the Early Summer Productivity Show, we demonstrated the curved surface roughing of tire mold with this machine, and showed how good its surface quality was.

NT6600 DCG "The ultimate integration"
The NT6600 DCG ultimate integrated mill turn center equipped with the ORC (Octagonal Ram Construction) boasts the Y-axis travel of 660 mm (26.0 in.), fastest Z-axis rapid traverse rate in its class of 32 m/min (1,259.8 ipm), and chip-to-chip time of 10 sec. or less. The machine, which inherits the features of the NT Series, is equipped with the longest long boring bar in its class <1,270 mm (50.0 in.)>, ATC, and steady rests.

NH6300 DCG II "The world's highest speed"
The key feature of the machine is its 1.1 times wider work envelop than previous machines while reducing the floor space by 11%. The machine, which has dramatically improved the maximum acceleration while keeping the high-rigidity, is the fastest in its class and the best for machining large parts.

DHP80+CPP "The world's highest accuracy"
The key feature is its extremely high-accuracy machining from roughing to finishing, which can be performed without test machining. For the machining of headstock, accuracy of tuning table for boring and positioning, which affects the coaxiality, achieves 3 μm or less.
